In the 1970s, Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej launched a visionary program to transform the northern highlands, encouraging farmers to replace opium poppy fields with coffee and other sustainable crops. This Royal Project aimed to uplift local communities, provide a stable income, and protect the environment through sustainable farming practices.
